The New Jersey Police Honor Legion Christmas in July toy donation days. - Thomas P
For the past Eighteen years the Honor Legion of Police Departments of the State of New Jersey has been doing an annual toy donation called "Christmas in July." This was started by Past President Timothy J. Sullivan when he was being treated at the Hackensack University Medical Center for cancer from 9/11 response and search and recovery hours at Ground Zero. The N.J.H.L. is a fraternal non-profit 501c-3 Organization started in 1966. Honor, Duty and Valor are the requirements for the Bravest of the Bravest to become members. For the past five years Mr. William Brauer and Subaru of Morristown have been a very generous and involved supporters. Our toys go to the Pediatric Oncology units of Hackensack Hospital and St. Joseph's hospital and Trauma Center Children's Ward in Paterson N.J. Words cannot express the feelings of heartache, and joy that we have when we bring the spirit of Christmas to the children who are in all stages of treatment when Santa brings them as many toys as they ask for! These children May Not See December. In closing thank you to Subaru for your generosity and support.
Subaru of Morristown Delivers Warmth to Cancer Patients in Community - Samantha V
For the past several years, Subaru of Morristown has been partnering with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown New Jersey through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This partnership involves delivering blankets, patient kits, and messaging of hope to those fighting cancer. Perfect fit for us - Elizabeth B
I came to Subaru of Morristown after being referred by family. I had just adopted my dog and my car was no longer safe for me and my new family member. I had never owned a Subaru before and was hesitant. When I walked into the dealership and saw the dedication to dogs by not only the brand but the dealership and salespeople, I knew I was making the right choice. I explained that my newest rescue loves the car, but I couldn't get him easily in the back seat of my current car, they had just the solution. My salesman showed me the accessories available, and I was overjoyed when I saw the doggy ramp that is specifically made for Subaru and is secured in the rear of the Subaru for safe, easy entry and exit of the car for my dog. I bought the Cross trek, and my dog loves the car and can't wait to go for rides. Thank you, Subaru of Morristown, for making this one of the easiest and best decisions I have made.

A Love Worth Waiting For - Jess E
Sweet Sadie's Kay made her rescue up from South Carolina to NJ in mid September with her five litter-mates to find her furever home. At 5 months old she had already been through so much trauma and was malnourished and covered in infected cuts and scrapes. She was placed with a loving foster who started the pampering right away, to help the healing process, but Kay watched one by one as her siblings and even mother were adopted, leaving her behind. This smart, playful pup was learning crate and house manners, putting on weight, and growing into her long legs. She was given up to date vaccines and was spayed all during her month and half wait time for that family to come along. Her foster parents weren't originally planning to attend the Oct 28th Subaru event, but decided to dress up their "Little Pumpkin" Kay and bring her for some socialization on the beautiful fall day. Meanwhile, in the next town, a young recently retired couple was still grieving for the loss of their 17 year old fur baby this passed April. They had been considering another dog from the prompting of family members, but after a few months of looking and attending events, just hadn't felt like any were "the one". They saw an ad for the event in the week leading up to it and decided to make a quick stop, since the day was so beautiful. It was a perfect meet cute and after so many belly rubs, it was love on both sides! The couple put in their application, the volunteers sped through the process, and Sweet Sadie's Kay, the last baby in the bunch, was in her FURever home two days later!!. Definitely a love worth waiting for! Thanks to our SUBARU partners in Morristown for their help and support - it is because of you that this family is now complete once more!

SUBARU Share the Love® - KIMBERLEY M
res·pite noun a short period of rest or relief from something difficult . The world of autism and related disabilities ripples out, impacting parents, siblings and caretakers, who often feel isolated from the greater community who may not understand the individual with autisms unique communication, emotional state, or behaviors. Every day relationships, rights of passage, and other typical family rituals may not be able to be accessed by our families due to this isolation. Many of our clients require one to one support to be able to stay away from home for one or two nights, giving families the much needed respite required for a lifetime of care of their loved one. Many of our families do not have a support network capable of helping them. The Subaru Share the Love has allowed Spectrum360 to run monthly one- and two-night respites for our clients (and benefit their families) in a meaningful and engaged way. Our respites include the needed support for the individual to be successful, from one on one service through small group services. Individuals with autism and related disabilities are provided with meals both in the community and learning life skills of prepping, cooking and cleaning up. They get to participate in fun activities such as horseback riding, Broadway shows, tubing, sporting events, community events, bowling, sip and paint and so much more. Our clients thrive and grow at these respites which teach cooperative social skills, independent life skills, and many areas of personal development. Individuals are able to come home with pictures of the fun they had with their peers. It allows them the dignity and opportunity to be having fun with their peer group, just like other young adults. As important, parents, siblings and caretakers are able to get a much needed break to relax, practice self care, go on a date or out with friends, or give siblings undivided attention required for their growth and development. One parent told me that the two night respite provided for her son with autism was allowing her and her husband to plan a night away for the first time in seventeen years. Another parent asked us if we could schedule a respite for her daughter with autism for the weekend of their sons college graduation, so that they could give their full attention to that. Their daughter has sensory sensitivity, does not like crowds, and can make loud vocalizations when trying to communicate her discomfort. She also does not feel comfortable with change, but has been able through practice to accept attending respites with one to one support. We were only able to allow this family to participate fully in their other daughter's graduation through the support of the Subaru share the Love program. Subaru Share the Love has made it possible for 50 adults with autism and related disabilities to participate this year and we are hoping to increase that number next year. This service and your support is life changing to the well being of our individuals and their families, and in turn to the greater community as our adults thrive and become successful in the adult world. We can not thank Subaru enough for helping us to help our community. You are leading in your efforts to show that humanity and ability to be compassionate, kind, and supportive is still a priority, and that our families are not alone. Thank you Subaru for helping us to shape and change the lives of those we serve.
Socks can make a difference! - Michele K
When Angelo from Subaru of Morristown called The Salvation Army to say they were collecting socks to be donated to a homeless shelter, he could not have realized how timely or significant this donation would be. Each week, The Salvation Army in Montclair distributes dozens of pairs of socks to those in need. We have been providing homeless services for the surrounding community for almost four decades. Our Cornerstone Emergency Shelter assists individuals and families who need safe, clean shelter while they make their way back to permanent housing. We also provide Drop-In services for men and women who need longer-term support. Through the Drop-In program, our guests are given the opportunity to shower each week and are offered a change of clothingsocks included. Socks make a huge difference, especially when the weather is wet and cold! On behalf of The Salvation Army and those we serve, thank you to the owners, staff and customers at Subaru of Morristown for this thoughtful gift.
The right fit for our family - Kate G
We came to Subaru of Morristown after being referred by a friend. We had just adopted our fourth dog and our current car was no longer working for our expanding canine family. We have never owned a Subaru before, having been loyal to a luxury brand for nearly 20 years we were skeptical and hesitant to say the least. As soon as we walked into the dealership and saw the dedication to dogs by not only the brand but the dealership family and salespeople, we knew we were making the right choice. We explained that our latest rescue, a Pit Bull/Bill Dog mix, loves the car but we cant get her to sit easily in the back seat of our current car, they had just the solution. Through the affiliation with Thule, the salesman showed me the accessories available and my heart was overjoyed when I saw the Tule Pet crate that is specifically made for Subaru and is secured in the rear of the Subaru Outback. We bought an Outback with the Thule crate and we are so happy. The dogs love the car and as soon as I open the rear hatch, Mia, the rescue, jumps right in and cant wait to go for a ride. Thank you Subaru of Morristown for making this one of the easiest and best decisions we have made.
Thais Rescue Heroes - Jess a
Sweet Thai Steele came to us with her three siblings in early August from our long time rescue partners in Tennessee. The pups had originally been abandoned in a box next to a dumpster, where they were luckily found by a Good Samaritan who brought them to the local shelter. At about 5 months old, they didnt get a lot of attention, being older than the puppies most people were looking for, but much younger that the adult others needed. The siblings attended event after event through August and the start of September, getting some attention, and one after another Thais brothers and sister eventually found their homes. While this affectionate little beagle mix was in foster and getting loved on, they began to notice odd symptoms, enough to warrant a vet visit. After many expensive tests and treatments, it was determined that Thai had an autoimmune disorder, and that she would need to be on medication to regulate her health, potentially for the rest of her life. At that point, any potential adopters took a large step back, some concerned about the cost and others not wanting to deal with a dog with health issues. Thais foster continued to bring her to events, talking up her training and sweetness. It was an amazing moment of kismet when Thai was brought to the October adoption event at Subaru of Morristown. We had posted some images to advertise the dogs in attendance and a young couple decided to swing by, just to get a look at this cute little dog they kept seeing. It was love at first sight for all three, and for the young dog they already owned a few days later when a meet was arranged! The foster and our adoption coordinators gave the couple all the medical information they would need, and they are confident that they can handle whatever needs to be done with Thais care. The term meant to be was used repeatedly, by them and the foster. On all sides, it is truly a love story worthy to be shared!
Saving Sammie - Jess H
Because of the collaboration with Subaru of Morristown, we are able to pull dogs from ACCs in NJ and the surrounding states. One specific case was Sammie & Sosa, two sweet dogs who were found in Philadelphia, abandoned and tied to a guard rail. We were able to bring both dogs into our organization and handle their initial vetting needs. Both girls (Sammie a 7-8 month old shep mix and Sosa a 1-2 year old pit terrier) were in horrible condition - dirty, malnourished, suffering ear and skin infections, not micro-chipped or spayed. They were seen by vets, put on medications, vaccinated, sterilized, and then analyzed by our in-house behaviorist. Sammie was the most malnourished at only 32lbs but otherwise super friendly and good tempered and as soon as she was posted, we had a lot of interest. Her Happy Tail ends with her being adopted to an amazing family who had been grieving the recent loss of their senior German Shepherd. They came to meet Sammie with their toddler and it was love at first sight all the way around. Sammie has now been in a home for a few weeks and is doing fantastically. She and her human brother are the best of friends and her new mom & dad are so happy with how well she has been responding to her behavior training. She recently was seen by a vet who reports that she is responding well to the specialized diet & feeding schedule being used to get her up to weight. He was also so impressed by her friendliness and general behavior, especially knowing the horrible condition she was found in.
Bam Bam LOVES Subaru and his new FURever home! - Alex G
BamBam, aka The Bammers aka Mr Potato, was found wandering the streets of Philly in the middle of August. After shelter workers checked for a microchip, they contacted his documented owner who claimed that she just had too much going on to care for him. Though he had a sweet personality and loved all he met, BamBam's age (at least 9yrs) and his physical condition (overweight, swollen joints, covered in masses and overgrown skin tags) did not put him at the top of the "adopt me" list. Sadly, after a month of waiting without adopter or foster, this sweet potato was put on the euthanasia list in September due to overcrowding. This is when Eleventh Hour Rescue stepped in! Once Bam was brought to our rescue, we placed him with a foster and made appointments for ultrasounds and biopsies for his lumps and bumps. He was also given supplements for his joints and weight management food to shed some pounds. Within a couple weeks, he was enjoying short runs around the yard and had some of the largest skin tags removed. Because of the support EHR receives from our retail partner, Subaru of Morristown, we were able to afford the multiple vet visits this boy needed to get healthy and attract the attention of an amazing adopter! By the end of October, volunteers received their last "Bamber Alert" from the fosters - Bam Bam had been placed in his FURever home and was getting so much love every day. We know he will spend the rest of his days in comfort and care <3
Finding FURever families for rescues dogs & cats - Jess H
Eleventh Hour Rescue has always been very proud and grateful of the support that Subaru of Morristown has provided our organization, in direct monetary donations as well as generous collections of toys, food, & supplies for the rescue dogs & cats that we save. On October 19th, in honor of "Subaru Loves Pets" month, they hosted an adoption day and donation drive, inviting us to bring some of our dogs and cats to visit to get exposure and build interest. We have participated in these events with them in the past and, as always, the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Throughout the time we were there, they took turns coming over, petting and cuddling the dogs, interacting with our volunteers, and bringing customers over to meet us. It was a successful event, with us collecting goods and donations, giving our animals lots of great exposure. BUT the story does not end there! In our experience at events like this, it is more about getting our animals seen, not necessarily ending with adoptions. However, because of the amazing efforts of the staff in publicizing our organization and asking people to stop in, we ended up having FOUR adoptions from the event! One was a sweet kitten named Raven, adopted by one of the Subaru employees. The three dogs who were adopted as a result of this event had each been with us a couple of months, considered "underdogs" because of their back story. The two females are sisters Karolina and Lilly, while the male is Stefan, each just over a year old. All three came from a hoarding situation in Texas where they had very little human interactions, so normal adoption events could be a lot for them to handle. They normally shy away from too much noise or people, and so do not stand out in comparison to other animals that are available for adoption. Because of the intimate, comfortable nature of the event Subaru of Morristown hosted, these three pups were able to settle in and show very well, helping their adoptive families to fall in love with them. We are positive that these three dogs specifically would have been with us for much longer if it had not been for the generosity and efforts of the staff at Subaru of Morristown! To top that off, we continued to get donations, both monetary and supply wise, for the weeks following. We are so happy with the outcome of that event and with our partnership with Subaru of Morristown. We know moving forward that the relationship can only get stronger and provide more and more benefit to our rescue dogs & cats. The work we do depends on the support of our community and our Subaru connection is definitely a cornerstone, enabling us to save more lives and create more FURever families.
Envy of the Island - John O
Just thought I would share something with you. We bought our 2005 Baja in December of 2004 from Subaru of Morristown and have been thrilled with it ever since. I lived in NJ for 64 years before we moved to SC last year. We also bought a home on the tiny island (about 11 sq. miles) of Cayman Brac in 2010 and shortly thereafter, shipped our Baja here. Since it arrived on the dock here, it has been the envy of the island. In addition to ferrying people and dogs, it has carried kayaks, paddle boards and countless loads of yard debris to the dump. Mother Nature and the salt air can be tough on vehicles here. I do maintain the car as well as possible and regularly wash and wax it to keep ahead of the salt. Today as I was waxing the car, it struck me that I was looking at the "Subaru of Morristown" sticker on the back of the car right next to our Cayman license plate. Having moved to SC, we don't have too many old ties to Morris County. Just felt I had to share with you where our Baja has been hanging out for the past 7 years and still going strong for us!
