While Subaru of Morristown has sold and serviced vehicles in the community for over two decades,its roots in the automobile retail industry goes back to 1962 when its founder, Arnold L. Brauer opened a Ford dealership in Madison.  In fact, it could be said that Arnold was born into the business with his father opening a Grahame Paige dealership in 1929, the year Arnold was born.  Fondly recalling many Saturdays during his youth observing and helping Dad in the showroom, Arnold refers to those experiences as a kind of "baptism of fire."

 

Arnold, who earned a business degree from Columbia University, also found the lure of the auto

industry too appealing to resist and like his father before him, opened the doors to his first showroom at the age of 33.  He purchased his first Toyota franchise some 14 years later and a Subaru dealership in 1984.

 

Subaru of Morristown earned the moniker "Stellar Performer" from Subaru of America for its

commitment to processes and applications that strive to streamline business practices that ensure that its customers enjoy their purchase and service experiences.  In 2008 Subaru of Morristown was ranked number one among New Jersey Subaru dealerships in customer satisfaction. 

 

According to Arnold, the keys to success is "selling and servicing the best vehicles made, and just as important, giving back to the community that supports your business."  It is Arnold's profound belief in the product, commitment to customer service and sense of community involvement that has perpetuated his long run of success.  Although he has been the recipient of numerous automotive awards throughout the years, Arnold takes greater satisfaction in the many charitable programs he has sponsored or supported within the community.

 

He was instrumental in re-opening the Morristown Community Theater and in cooperation with

Morristown Memorial Hospital's "Laugh Well" program spearheaded fundraising events that included performances from prominent entertainers such as Robert Klein, The Smothers Brothers, Joy Behar and Venessa Williams.

 

Some other charities and sponsorships he has participated in include The DEBORAH Foundation which raises money to care for patients afflicted with tuberculosis and other cardiac, pulmonary and vascular diseases.  He has also been a staunch supporter of many USMC sponsored charities which include the annual "Toys for Tots" campaigns and Marine Corps/Law Enforcement Programs.

 

"Jazzfest," "Little League Baseball," "Youth Soccer," and WDHA's "Kids Who Rock" have also benefitted from his many sponsorships over the years.

 

These days Arnold is retired and the daily working operations of the dealership is entrusted to his son Johnathan Brauer, the third generation auto retailer in the family tree.  Jonathan, along with Partner and General Manager Anthony Ferrara who has been with the organization for nearly 25 years, are committed to ensuring that product excellence, community involvement and customer loyalty, the foundation Arnold built all those years ago, continue to be the credo by which Subaru of Morristown conducts business.
